American Indian Alaskan Native (AIAN) Health Specialist

Position Summary
Plan, direct, manage, evaluate, and supervise the delivery of health care services of American Indian Alaskan Native Project Contract in accordance with the Indian Health Service (IHS) Contract.  Directs coordinates and monitors all program services and activities to ensure compliance with internal and contractual requirements.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop, coordinate and evaluate health services/project in accordance with contractual agreement.
• Manage implementation of project.
• Manages project budget in collaboration with Fiscal Department.
• Develop and/or identify culturally appropriate health promotion/disease prevention education materials.
• Develop and / or revise current agency marketing materials.
• Monitor and report progress towards agency goals and objectives.
• Evaluate project health care delivery and compliance with best practice standards.
• Prepares monthly, quarterly, annual reports regarding (a) health project/services
• activities; (b) client registration; (c) client utilization; and, (d) clinical measure and outcomes.
• Networks with community agencies and attends community meetings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements
• Knowledge of AIAN cultural values and practices in the delivery of health care services.
• Knowledge and skill to utilize computer and association software and/or databases.
• Knowledge of the community, health and human service agency resources.
• Excellent problem solving, organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate health services.
• Ability to evaluate and stabilize complex/crisis situations.
• Ability to develop budgets.
• Effectively work as a team member while maintaining the ability to initiate and manage projects independently.

Other Requirements
• Have valid driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle for work with proof of adequate automobile insurance coverage.  May use company vehicle for business of the organization.
• Driver’s abstract without any moving violations.
• Valid tuberculosis clearance within one (1) year.
• CPR, First Aid and AED Certification.

Education and Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in health administration or related field.
• Five (5) years working experience in a health care, education or social human service position with indigenous population.
• Three (3) years of supervisory experience.
• Five (5) years of experience in managing, coordinating and implementing program services, or:  
• Any combination of education and experience, which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
