Research — PILI Ohana Project

PILI Ohana Project is a collaborative community based research project funded by a grant from the National Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities.

The Project involves 4 communities (Ke Ola Mamo, Kokua Kalihi Valley, Hawaii Maoli and Kula no na Po`e Hawaii) and the University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine, Department of Native Hawaiian Health.

PILI Ohana Intervention Study
We are excited to announce the start of the PILI Ohana Intervention Study.

Partnerships for Improving Lifestyle Intervention (PILI) is a community-based study to look at weight loss and maintenance of that weight loss over time.

If you are interested in losing weight and taking part in this program, see below for more information!

You must be:

o At least 18 years old

o Able to commit to a 18-month study program

o Interested in weight loss

o Able to identify one support person who will encourage you throughout the program (family member or a friend)

o Able to do some moderate exercise

o Either Native Hawaiian, Samoan, Chuukese, Filipino, or of any other Pacific Islander ethnicity
