Kū Ola Kāne Program Manager

Position Summary

Assist in the planning, development, design, and implementation of operational work-plans based on the Kū Ola grant objectives. Emphasis is placed on a holistic approach to health care service delivery to successfully meet overall program goals and objectives. Fosters and develops a team approach in providing coordinated, individualized, goal-oriented services leading to desired client outcomes. Performs, directs, coordinates, and monitors program services and activities to ensure compliance with internal and contractual requirements. Promotes the basic human rights, dignity, health, and safety of the persons served. The Manager will be an employee of Ke Ola Mamo.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interprets agency requirements, policies, and standards to direct service staff.

  • Responsible for monitoring the progress toward grant objectives.

  • Submits monthly and quarterly reports to the Deputy Director regarding: (a) case management & outreach activities; (b) client contacts; (c) statistical data and analysis; and (d) other program/project reports.

  • Assists in the preparation of grant proposals, preparing budget in accordance with funding opportunites.

  • Guide Community Health Educator and Research Assistant with all aspects of the project.

  • Work with Community Health Educator and Research Assistant at Ke Ola Mamo and staff at the University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center to collect and manage data resulting from implementation of the project.

  • Overseeing and helping complete the day-to-day tasks required to complete the project.

  • Management of the permanent Hale Mua.

  • Oversight of the mobile clinic and health education vehicle.

  • Schedule project activities supporting collaboration with community partners.

  • Data collection, data entry, and participant tracking duties related to the project.

  • Develop and distribute project materials, including print, multimedia, and web-based resources.

  • Assist in conducting literature reviews, preparing tables and graphs for presentations and publications and manuscript writing.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participates in monthly staff meetings.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned by the Executive Director.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements

  • The graduate-level trained Project Manager is expected to have a working knowledge of local Native Hawaiian communities and cultural practices.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of Native Hawaiian cultural values and practices in the delivery of health care services.

  • Excellent knowledge of community, health and human service agency resources.

  • Knowledge of community needs.

  • Excellent problem solving, organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to create and implement treatment plans.

  • Ability to evaluate and stabilize crisis situations.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and complete tasks as assigned.

  • Ability to empower, nurture, and provide training to direct service staff.

  • Ability to work effectively and independently with various levels of Clinical and Administrative managers, coworkers and staff within KOM and with community leaders and provider/agency representatives.

  • Ability to maintain accountability and confidentiality.

Other Requirements

  • Have a valid driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle for work with proof of adequate automobile insurance coverage. May use company vehicle for business of the organization.

  • Driver’s abstract without any moving violations within the past three (3) years.

  • Valid COVID vaccination card at the time of application.

  • Valid tuberculosis clearance within one (1) year.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a health or social human service field, or related field of study with a demonstrated record of continuing education and training.

  • Master’s degree in a health or human services related field preferred.

  • One (1) year paid professional experience with the target population with one (1) year of previous administrative/supervisory experience.

  • Any combination of education and experience that would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
