Traditional Healing
Hula
Hula served as both a cultural expression and a way for our ancestors to stay physically and mentally connected. The blend of language, movement, and ancestral wisdom makes it a practice that nourishes both body and spirit. Hula is an incredible way to strengthen cardiovascular strength.
Oli
Oli is a powerful way to practice mindfulness, helping the practitioner shift focus from their thoughts to a more grounded presence in the body. As a meditative practice, it promotes mental clarity and spiritual well-being. These classes can serve as a bridge between our Hula and ʻōlelo Hawai’i classes.
‘Ōlelo Hawai’i
Learning a new language enhances mental agility and fosters a richer understanding of the values and worldview of our kūpuna. These classes allow participants to deepen their cultural practice while promoting brain health through language learning.
Program Structure
As a Native Hawaiian Health Care System, Ke Ola Mamo is committed to offering both traditional and modern healing methods. Our Cultural Workshops provide a unique opportunity to blend Native Hawaiian practices with personal well-being. Over the course of 25 weeks, you'll deepen your connection to Hawaiian culture and enhance your vitality.
This program offers a rich exploration of culture through three interconnected curricula, promoting cultural immersion and personal growth. It culminates in an end-of-year showcase, where participants share their journey with their ʻohana and community.
Classes are led by Virginia “Gigi” Takaki.
