Second Annual Hōʻike

Ka Lele I Ke Ola 2nd Annual Hōʻike 2026: A Showcase of Haumāna Learning, Culture, and Language

Ke Ola Mamo is proud to present the Ka Lele I Ke Ola 2nd Annual Hōʻike 2026, a special showcase highlighting the work, learning, and growth of the Ka Lele I Ke Ola Program and its haumāna.

Taking place on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Windward Mall in Kāneʻohe, this year’s hōʻike will feature haumāna representing Nānākuli, Kahuku, and Wahiawā as they share the knowledge, skills, and experiences they have gained through the program.

The hōʻike is centered on celebrating the haumāna and the work they have carried throughout Ka Lele I Ke Ola. Guests will have the opportunity to witness their learning in action and engage with the cultural practices, language activities, and hands-on experiences that reflect the foundation of the program.

To support this showcase, Ke Ola Mamo will also offer interactive engagement activities for guests of all ages. These include lei making, mea pāʻani, papa paʻi ʻai, hana noʻeau, and ʻōlelo makuahine vocabulary activities. Each activity is designed to invite participation while connecting guests to the same cultural and language-based learning that haumāna have been practicing.

Lei making will include rosettes and wristlets only to preserve flower supply and allow more guests to participate. Mea pāʻani will include kōnane, hū, Kukulu Cards, and “E Luʻu Iho,” a Go Fish-style game played using ʻōlelo makuahine only.

Guests can also participate in Papa Paʻi ʻAi, the pounding of fresh kalo, as well as hana noʻeau, where participants can design a small canvas bag, envelope, or card to take home. ʻŌlelo makuahine activities will include vocabulary practice using flash cards and flip charts, with materials created to encourage language use and learning for all ages.

At its heart, Ka Lele I Ke Ola 2nd Annual Hōʻike 2026 is about honoring the haumāna, their growth, and the ʻike they are carrying forward. This showcase reflects Ke Ola Mamo’s continued commitment to creating spaces where culture, language, learning, and wellness can grow together.

We invite ʻohana and guests to join us in celebrating the haumāna of Ka Lele I Ke Ola and the meaningful work they have helped bring to life.
